The mutilated body of a taxi driver from Cuttack, who had gone missing for the last three days, was found along the National Highway at Ghasipura in Keonjhar on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as Bhagaban Baireeganjan who was a resident of Kanas in Puri.
As per reports, Bhagaban picked up three passengers in his taxi from College Square in Cuttack to Jajpur on June 24. However, there was no trace of Bhagaban and the passengers since then.
Based on a missing complaint at Malgodown police station, an investigation into the incident was launched. Eventually, Bhagaban’s mutilated body was found along the National Highway at Ghasipura.
Meanwhile, Bhagaban’s car was found in Govindpur area in Cuttack district.
Mystery shrouded the death of the driver following the development. While Bhagaban was on his way to Jajpur, the recovery of his car from Govindpur and mutilated body from Ghasipura has deepened the suspense.
Malgodown police has launched an investigation into the incident. Meanwhile, the visual of Bhagaban passing through Tangi toll gate on June 24 night has been captured on the CCTV camera installed there.
“An investigation into the incident has been launched, More information regarding the case could be divulged after the completion of the investigation,” said Arun Swain, Zone-1 ACP Cuttack.
