Once again unidentified miscreants looted around Rs 2 lakh from a trader by posing as police personnel in Cuttack. As per initial reports, the victim hails from Dhenkanal district and he runs a small jewellery shop there.
The victim, identified as Pankaj Sahoo, always purchases gold and silver ornaments from several stores in Cuttack and later sells them at his shop in Dhenkanal.
On Friday, two bike-borne miscreants stopped Sahoo while he was walking near Nayasarak chhak in the city. Identifying themselves as police, the miscreants asked Sahoo to show what he was carrying in his bag.
“I was walking near Nayasarak chhak when two persons came to me and asked me to check my bag. They showed identity cards in which they wore police uniforms and caps. Later, they took away Rs 2 lakh from me,” said Sahoo.
According to Sahoo, the two persons were communicating in Hindi and Odia and they took away the money on the pretext of checking.
Later, Sahoo lodged a complaint with Lalbag police station in connection with the incident.
