A hotel owner was critically injured as some unidentified miscreants attacked him with swords at Samalpur square under Saraswatipur Gram Panchayat in Balasore district on Friday.
The victim has been identified as Sanjeev Kumar Mohapatra.
Mohapatra sustained severe injuries on his head, back and hands. He has been admitted to the nearby hospital in a critical condition.
As per reports, Mohapatra was on the way to his hotel when six to seven unidentified miscreants intercepted his vehicle near Samalpur square and attacked him with swords. The miscreants immediately fled from the spot after the incident.
Mohapatra sustained severe injuries in the attack. His driver reportedly rescued him and rushed him to the nearby hospital. He also informed Mohapatra’s family members about the incident. He is currently undergoing treatment at Balasore District Headquarters Hospital.

Upon being informed, Balasore police reached the spot and started an investigation into the incident.
However, who all are involved in the brutal attack and what is the motive behind it are yet to be ascertained.
“Some miscreants intercepted my elder brother’s vehicle when he was going to the hotel. When he came out of the vehicle, some six to seven miscreants attacked him with swords. My brother has sustained severe injuries in his body,” said Mohapatra’s younger brother.
As per sources, some youths had visited Mohapatra’s house to hold a discussion with him in the morning. However, Mohapatra avoided them by telling them that he was busy.
