The demand for justice for the minor gang-rape survivor of Umerkote in Nabarangpur is growing stronger with a social organisation, Nyaya Pain Ladhei Parivar (NPLP) filing a petition with the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC).
Demanding justice for the victim, the chairperson of another social organisation, Maa Ghara, Kadambini Tripathy said, “The case should be moved to the Fast Track Court and justice should be delivered to the victim. I would like to request advocates that shouldn’t take the side of the accused. The accused should be sentenced to life imprisonment and hanged till death.”
Meanwhile, the Kundei police in Nabarangpur has arrested the Headmaster Sachitranandan Biswas, and assistant teacher Keshab Majhi on charges of sexually assaulting the Class VI girl. Demanding stringent action against the accused and compensation of Rs 30 lakh, the NPLP has filed a petition in the NHRC.

At the same time, state BJP spokesperson, Sonali Sahu said, “Schools are no longer safe for girls. The number of girls dropping out of school is increasing. In the Nabarangpur case, why Snehangini Chhuria is keeping a mum? When she was ready to go to Delhi, why she has not yet visited Nabarangpur to enquire about the girl’s condition? The state government should answer the atrocities and crime against girls.”
