The body of a minor boy was exhumed on Monday, two weeks after it was buried in Kendrapara. The incident occurred in Deulasahi village under Rajkanika police station in Kendrapara district.
The deceased was the minor son of one Sujit Behura from the same village and was a Plus 2 student of Kendrapara Adarsha Vidyalaya.
On the night of November 12, the dead body of the minor boy was discovered under mysterious circumstances. However, the family did not conduct a post-mortem and instead buried it.

Later, after unlocking the minor's mobile phone, the family learned that the death was related to a love affair gone wrong. Moreover, the deceased’s mother also alleged a probable suicide angle in the case.
Photographs of the minor boy with an unidentified girl were reportedly discovered by the family after unlocking the former’s phone. Phone calls and messages were also alleged to have been exchanged between the two.
“I suspect that the girl’s behavior or something stated in her calls or text may have led my son to take his own life. I demand justice and truth behind my son’s suicide,” stated Rajashree Nayak, mother of the deceased.
Following this revelation, the deceased's mother lodged a complaint at the Rajkanika police station.
Acting on the plea, the Rajkanika police, along with a scientific team and the Kanika tehsildar, visited the site yesterday. The body was exhumed and a post-mortem was conducted fourteen days after the incident.
"The body was exhumed from a cemetery and a post-mortem was done as per procedure. Rajkanika police have registered a case in the matter and are actively investigating it,” said Kanika tehsildar, Ashok Kumar Dehuri.
