Veteran BJP leader Manmohan Samal has once again been entrusted with the leadership of the party in Odisha. He was elected unopposed as the State BJP President on Tuesday, marking his second consecutive and fourth overall term in the position.

During the nomination process held yesterday, Samal emerged as the sole candidate, with no other nominations being filed.

Manmohan Samal’s Stint in BJP So Far:

Samal’s previous terms as state president include 1999–2000, 2000–2004, and the ongoing term from March 2023 to the present.

With a political career spanning decades, he has served as both Minister and Legislator, bringing significant administrative and organisational experience to the table.

His role in the BJP’s performance during the 2024 elections, where the party came to power on its own in the state for the first time, is said to have been instrumental.

As the ruling party's state chief, Samal has maintained coordination between the government and the organisation during the BJP’s first year in power.

Challenges Ahead for Manmohan Samal:

Central leadership’s renewed trust in Samal reflects his ability to lead from the front, especially as the party gears up for upcoming panchayat elections.

Going forward, balancing governance with organizational priorities will be a key challenge for the seasoned leader.

Speaking on the occasion, BJP National Vice President and Kendrapara MP Baijayant Panda said, “The pace at which the double-engine Odisha government has initiated various developmental works, the Manmohan Samal-led BJP will also accelerate the party's organisational efforts at the same pace. I thank and congratulate the lakhs of workers who have played a role in re-electing Manmohan Bhai as the party president.”
