In a tragic fire incident, a man and his nephew were burnt alive to death while they were warming themselves around a bonfire to beat the excess cold. The heart-wrenching incident was reported from Balakira village under Baunsuni police limits in Boudh district late Saturday night.

The deceased uncle has been identified as Krishna Bhoi, son of Subala Bhoi from Balakira village, while his nephew also named Krishna Urma, son of Sanjit Urma from Basantbahal village. Despite their shared first name, they were uncle and nephew in relationship and members of different families.

According to sources, the two were sitting around a bonfire with a paddy straw heap nearby. Due to some reason, all of a sudden, the straw heap caught fire, leading to the tragic mishap. The uncle-nephew duo who was also sitting near the straw heap sustained critical burn injuries.
In a desperate attempt to save their lives, both victims were promptly transported in critical condition to the Bausuni Community Health Centre.

However, they were sadly pronounced dead upon arrival by the attending medical staff.

Local authorities have reached the scene and initiated an investigation to determine the cause of the fire and the circumstances leading to the tragic incident. The unexpected loss has left their family members in mourning, with residents expressing shock and grief.
