In a shocking incident, a man allegedly killed his father-in-law at Lakshmipur Railway colony in Koraput district on Saturday. The accused also attacked his mother-in-law and wife over a suspected family feud.
The deceased, identified as Lochan Baipari, was stabbed to death with an iron rod by his son-in-law, Krushna Jani and three of his associates.
Though the exact motive behind the murder is suspected to be ongoing family conflict, a clear picture is likely to emerge after a detailed police investigation.
According to reports, the incident occurred around 8 PM when Jani along with his three associates broke into his in-laws’ house and allegedly killed Lochan. Jani’s wife and mother-in-law also sustained injuries in the attack and were subsequently rushed to the hospital for treatment.
The mother-in-law suffered injuries on her neck and her hand is also fractured. The wife of the accused is also said to be critical.
Reportedly, Jani also threatened the neighbours not to interfere in the matter. As a result, the neighbours refrained from intervening during the altercation.
Meanwhile, police have detained Jani and two of his associates and they are being quizzed. A manhunt has been launched to nab the remaining associate.
