The Commissionerate Police-Bhubaneswar issued an advisory on Monday to regulate vehicular movement in the Capital City during the Maha Shivratri celebrations at the Lingaraj Temple.

“It is hereby notified that the following regulations are being imposed for smooth flow of vehicular traffic, non congestion and non hindrance to pedestrians on the eve of Maha Shivratri to be celebrated at Lingaraj Temple, Bhubaneswar on 26.02.2025. The regulation shall be effective from midnight of February 25, 2025,” a press release issued in this regard by Commissionerate Police mentioned.
Details of the traffic restrictions are:
1. The vehicles (four-wheelers and two-wheelers) coming to Lingaraj Temple from Ratha Road and Punama Gate side shall be diverted from Badheibanka Square towards B.M High School ground for parking. No heavy vehicles shall be allowed to ply on Ratha Road during this period.
2. The vehicles coming to Lingaraj Temple from Kedar-Gouri Temple side and Sanitarium Chhak side may avail the Koti Tirtha Lane via Kacherapindi Chhak and park their vehicles at vacant space at rear side of Taranga Club. Vehicular movement through Koti Tirtha lane will be made one way for this purpose from Sidhi Mandap Lane side.
3. The vehicles coming from Samanatrapur side will be allowed via Sriram Nagar, merging at Substation Square where they will be diverted towards northern side of Ananta Basudev Temple and rear side of Taranga Club for parking.
4. The vehicles coming from Keuta Sahi side towards Lingaraj Temple shall be diverted from Sriram Nagar to BMC Market Complex and Ananta Basudev Temple parking and other designated parking places via Substation Square.
5. The vehicles coming from Tara Sundari Road towards Lingaraj Temple shall not be allowed after Badheibanka Chhak and shall be diverted from Municipality Hospital to B.M High School ground for parking.
6. All the buses, heavy vehicles, cars coming from Mausima Chhak side and Kalpana Chhak side through Ramakrishna Math will be allowed up to Sanitarium Square and the vehicles will be parked at the newly lunched Bus Stop at Sanitarium Square.
7. Vehicles of invitees and government officials coming on Ratha Road may take diversion at Badheibanka Square towards dedicated parking areas listed below via Municipality Hospital road.

Parking No-1: BMC new market complex side (4 Wheelers).
Parking No-2: Beside BMC Market Complex-north side (Car/4Wheeler).
Parking No-3: Near Bus Stop at Sanitorium Sqr (Bus/Car).
Parking No-4: Koti Tirtha Lane to Kacheripindi (2 Wheelers).
Parking No-5: BMC Hospital north side and beside Papanasini pond
BM High school north side (Govt Vehicles).
Parking No-6: BM High school north side (Govt. Vehicles).
Parking No-7: In front of south gate of Lingaraj (VIP & VVIP).
Parking No-8: BM High School ground (4 Wheeler on south side & 2 Wheeler on north side).
Parking No-9: In front of Lingaraj weekly Haat (OB Van).
Parking No-10: Western side of Lingaraj weekly Haat (Media 4 Wheeler & 2 Wheeler).
Parking No-11: South side of Lingaraj weekly Haat (Govt Vehicles on duty).
Parking No-12: Lingaraj Temple south east corner beside the House of Hari Samartha [for Sebayats
(servitors) of Lingaraj Temple, Contingency Parking only].
Worth mentioning, the ceremonious lighting of the Mahadeepa is scheduled for 10.00 PM on the sacred night.
