A tense situation unfolded in Kendrapara district after the body of a young man was found hanging from a tree near the cremation ground of Pakhada village under Patkura area on Friday. The deceased has been identified as Bansidhar Mishra, a resident of the same village.

The body was discovered under suspicious circumstances, prompting doubts over whether it was a case of suicide or a premeditated murder. Police reached the spot, recovered the body, and sent it for post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death.

Family Members Suspect Foul Play

However, the incident took a serious turn when the family of the deceased firmly alleged that Bansidhar had been murdered.
Claiming foul play, they demanded immediate arrest of the accused and took to the streets in protest.

In a dramatic display of anger, the family members and local villagers blocked the Rathadanda stretch of the Garadpur-Patkura road by burning tyres, bringing vehicular movement to a complete halt for several hours.

Braja Mishra, a local resident said, “Police and forensic team have reached the spot. Soon the body will be taken to Kendrapra for autopsy. We will lodge a formal police complaint and hope that the family gets justice.”

The blockade was lifted only after police officials intervened and assured the aggrieved family and villagers that a thorough investigation would be conducted and the culprits would be apprehended without delay. The situation remains tense but under control, as the local police continue their probe into the incident.

Patkura IIC, Mohammad Jamshed said, “We will take appropriate action after conducting the post-mortem and considering other aspects.”
