The Lingaraj Temple Road railway station in Bhubaneswar is poised for a major transformation aimed at enhancing passenger convenience and infrastructure.
The redevelopment, costing around Rs 19.53 crore, will introduce a host of modern amenities designed to cater to both daily commuters and visiting pilgrims.
Lingaraj Temple Road Railway Station Facelift: Key Highlights
Key highlights of the revamp include the addition of a G+2 station building covering 765 square metres, along with the renovation of the current 1100 square metre front-facing structure.
A new 12-metre-wide foot overbridge, dedicated parking zones for two-wheelers and three-wheelers, and a 130 square metre air-conditioned waiting lounge are part of the comprehensive upgrade.
Passengers can also look forward to new premium modular toilets, granite and mosaic-tiled platforms, a cafeteria, a commercial block, and 29 additional bays to expand platform shelter capacity. Information systems like coach and train display boards will also be modernised.
Bhubaneswar MP Reviews Progress
Bhubaneswar MP Aparajita Sarangi, who recently inspected the site, confirmed that the revamped station is expected to be inaugurated by October 31, 2025. The project is being carried out with support from the Ministry of Railways, promising a more comfortable and efficient travel experience.
