The funeral rites of the Nepali girl student, who died by suicide in her hostel at KIIT University in Bhubaneswar, were performed in Bhairawa of Nepal on Thursday.
According to sources, the body of the girl student Prakriti Lamsal was carried by her family members, relatives, and local residents in a procession to the cremation ground. Hundreds of people took part in the procession and bade her tearful adieu.

Prakriti's father expresses his anguish
Grieved over the death of the Nepal girl student, the father of the deceased on Tuesday slammed the educational institution and demanded justice.
Sunil Lamsal, father of the deceased girl, said, “We just came to know that an investigation is being done. The post-mortem report will come soon. We have the information that she was being harassed and emotionally blackmailed due to which she committed suicide. On February 16, we had a conversation with the University officials. They did not say anything, but the police are cooperating with us.”

“We had sent our daughter for higher education. However, the incident happened. We have full faith and confidence in the government and police administration here. We are hopeful that they will give us justice,” said the deceased’s father.
“Though our daughter is no more, other national and international students are continuing their studies at the university. No such incidents should be ever heard in the future,” he further said.
