Khalistani extremist threatens to disrupt DG-IG conference to be attended by PM Modi in Bhubaneswar

Khalistani extremist and head of the Sikhs for Justice (SFI) outfit, Gurpatwant Singh Pannun has reportedly threatened to disrupt the much-awaited DG-IG conference in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, which will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and Security Advisor Ajit Doval among others.

Releasing a video, Pannun urged his supporters and followers to ‘disguise and take cover in temples or hotels in Bhubaneswar’ to disrupt the three-day DG-IG conference. The extremist also called upon Naxals, Maoists, and Kashmiri fighters to disguise and take cover in temples and hotels.

A designated terrorist under UAPA, Pannun also dared PM Modi to visit Ram Mandir in Bhubaneswar.

Pannun stated that it was not a conference but a meeting to plan and orchestrate killings of pro-Khalistani Sikhs, Kashmiri fighters, Naxals, and Maoists. Pannun further stated that over 200 security officials of NIA, CRPF, NSG, BSF, I,B and CISF will meet under Amit Shah and PM Modi to plan to kill pro-Khalistanis, Kashmiri fighters, Naxals and Maoists.

“State police is on high alert,” The New Indian Express quoted Odisha DGP YB Khurania when asked about the threats from Pannun.

Speaking to media persons, Twin City police commissioner Suresh Dev Datta Singh said, “We have a robust security blanket comprising Odisha Police, Commissionerate Police, Anti-Terror Agencies, Forces, and other Central Security Forces. The event will focus on the law and order situation across the country.”

Commenting on threats by Khalistani extremist Pannun, the Police Commissioner said, “Over 70 platoon forces have been mobilized. Many anti-India terrorists pose a challenge to us. But, our efforts are on to neutralize them so that the country is free from such terrorists.”

“Needless to say, we will keep a strict vigil. Preventive measures are right in place with tight security everywhere,” Singh stated.

Ahead of PM Modi’s arrival tomorrow i.e. Nov 29, the conference venue is already under massive security blanket with many areas being declared as no-flying and no-drone zone. PM Modi is scheduled to attend the pan-India DG-IG conference that will continue from November 30 to December 1. 

Apart from PM Modi, several senior officers of the Intelligence Bureau, DGPs of all states, DG of Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), chiefs of Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), National Security Guard (NSG) and Special Protection Group (SPG) will attend the conference.

The three-day event will majorly focus on several Issues like internal security, Left Wing Extremism, terrorism and counter-terrorism.
