The joy of registering for Subhadra Yojana dashed to the ground when 20 to 25 women from Keonjhar district found their hard-earned money had been debited from their bank accounts.

As per reports, with the hope of getting Subhadra money, 20 to 25 women of Benamunda village under Telkoi Police Station had visited a Seva Kendra in their locality. For linking their mobile numbers to their AADHAAR numbers, they were asked to get their fingerprints scanned through a biometric scanner.

What happened the next moment gave them the shock of their lifetimes. After learning that their hard-earned money had been debited from their accounts, they felt the ground under their feet was slipping.

“We went to an AADHAAR centre to link our AADHAAR numbers with the mobile numbers. The operator at the centre asked us to get our fingertips scanned three to four times. We did as we were asked. The next day, when I updated my passbook, I came to know that Rs 700 had been debited. When complained, the operator pleaded ignorance,” said Snehalata Baksingh, a Galada villager.

Echoing the same, another worried villager Bhabani Patra said Rs 3000 has been debited from her account. All other victims have similar shocking experiences to narrate.

The victimized women have registered a complaint with the Telkoi Police, demanding immediate arrest of the online fraudsters.
