Kangaroo court: Young girl tied, beaten up in public for meeting ‘boyfriend' in Odisha capital

In a shocking incident, a young girl was reportedly tied to the pillar of a house and brutally thrashed for allegedly going to meet a male friend. The shocking incident has been reported from Leprosy Colony under Mancheswar police limits in Odisha capital Bhubaneswar.

According to sources, the incident occurred Monday evening. On being alerted, the Mancheswar police rushed to the spot and rescued the young girl. 

Mancheswar police took suo moto cognizance of the matter and launched a probe into the incident on Wednesday. A police team visited the colony and questioned a few people.

Although the girl hasn’t lodged any complaint in this regard, Mancheswar police have registered a case and launched a probe in this connection.

Sources said the girl had gone to the colony to meet her alleged boyfriend. However, a few women in the colony caught hold of her and brutally assaulted her in full public view.

The girl was then tied to a pillar of a house and beaten up again by the women. Videos of the assault are now going widely viral on social media. The incident has spread outrage among people who demanded stringent action against the accused women.
