According to sources, the ITI student Rudra Sahu from Bhadrak district went missing while bathing in the sea along with friends in the beach town of Puri. Rudra had come to Puri by train last night on a trip with his classmates.

The incident took place in the morning when Rudra, along with his friends, entered the sea for a bath. During this time, he was swept away by the sea water and could not be located. Eyewitnesses raised an alarm, following which two lifeguard teams began an immediate search operation.

“In the morning, near Digabareni post in the sea, the youth from Bhadrak was swept away by a large wave while bathing with his friends,” an eyewitness expressed.

However, turbulent sea conditions have made the search operation challenging. Frantic search and rescue operations were underway till the fall of night. Local administration is closely monitoring the situation.

Police have issued warnings to tourists and visitors, urging them not to enter deep into the waters due to unsafe conditions.

Family members of the missing student have been informed.

“The boy went missing at Sector No.-4 near Puri Hotel. Tides at the shore are turbulent, and red flags have been put up. We blew the whistle after seeing him going into the sea, but could not find him,” a fire officer of the rescue team, Aditya Das, stated to OTV.
