After assuming charge as the in-charge Director General of Police (DGP) of Jammu and Kashmir, Odia IPS officer Rashmi Ranjan Swain arrived at his hometown in Rourkela in Odisha.
In an exclusive interview with OTV, Swain said that to lead a force in Jammu and Kashmir is a matter of pride for him.

“Pakistan is keeping a tab on every single individual and who is doing what in villages. In such a situation, maintaining law and order, protecting the lives of people and investigating terror financing are very tough,” said Swain.
Apart from this, fighting the anti-India narrative and battling in court is always challenging, said J&K's top cop. “It is a historic time after abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir and leading the force and getting an opportunity to create a new chapter along with Army and Paramilitary force is really a matter of pride,” he said.
On difficulties and challenges working in Jammu and Kashmir, Swain said, “ It is a border state and there is a legacy of hostile neighbour like Pakistan and the challenges are very difficult. There are various valleys in which the entire brigade will get lost. Hence, it is tough to work in difficult terrain but working with a set of values and discharging duties with every ounce of energy is what keeps me motivated.”
On his journey from Rourkela to Jammu and Kashmir, Swain said, “There is resilience in the middle-class families in the country. I have been brought up in a family with a value system. An ordinary Odia is an ethical and cultural person which is in our DNA.”
