With a low-pressure system prevalent over Gangetic West Bengal, adjoining north Odisha, Jharkhand, and neighbourhood, heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is very likely to occur in some districts of Odisha during the next 72 hours, India Meteorological Department (IMD) said on Tuesday.

The IMD issued Orange alerts in some districts and Yellow alerts in some others till July 4.
In its midday bulletin, the IMD regional centre stated, “An associated cyclonic circulation extending up to 5.8 Km above mean sea level is likely to move slowly west-northwestwards across Jharkhand during the next 24 hours.”

Light to moderate rain or thundershowers are very likely to occur at most places over the districts of Interior Odisha and at many places over the districts of Coastal Odisha.
Orange Warning (Be Prepared): Heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorms with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph are very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Sambalpur, and Jharsuguda.
Yellow Warning (Be Aware): Heavy rain is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Bargarh, Subarnapur, Boudh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Deogarh, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Koraput, Malkangiri, Mayurbhanj, Bolangir, and Nuapada.
Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty surface wind speed reaching 30-40 kmph is very likely to occur at one or two places over the district of Bargarh.
