A violent group clash broke out at Tulasipur village under Marshaghai police limits of Kendrapara district over the organisation of an Ashta Prahari Naam Yajna on Monday leaving at least 15 injured.
According to sources, two groups came face-to-face—one supporting and organising the yajna, while the other opposed it. The confrontation escalated into physical clash, leaving 15 people injured. Among them, five were critically wounded and have been shifted to Kendrapara District Headquarters Hospital (DHH) and SCB Medical College, Cuttack, for treatment, sources added.
Police Force Deployed
Following the incident, police have intensified patrolling in both Marshaghai Medical area and Tulasipur village.
FIRs have been lodged from both sides, and police forces have been deployed to maintain law and order in the village. The situation is currently under control.
“A clash broke out between two groups over Ashta Prahari Naam Yajna at Tulasipur village. At least 15 persons injured in the clash,” informed Tapan Nayak, Inspector-In-Charge of Marshaghai police station.
“We are attacked for organising Ashta Prahari. I was attacked with iron rods in which I sustained head injuries. We are making arrangements for the puja when they attacked from the backside,” Kuna Jena, a victim.
