A girl's hanging body was discovered in a rented house at Lokapada village under the jurisdiction of Aul Police Station in Kendrapara district on Thursday.
The deceased, originally from Cuttack, had been staying in the Aul area for the past few days while working at a private finance company.
As per the allegation by the family members of the deceased, her boyfriend is responsible for her death. They have filed a complaint at the Aul Police Station, alleging that the girl was in a relationship with a youth from the Chandbali area for several years.
The accused had allegedly established a physical relationship with the woman under the false promise of marriage and later blackmailed her on multiple occasions. The family further alleged that this harassment led the girl to take her own life.

As per reports, based on the complaint, the Aul police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident. However, no reactions about the incident could be obtained from the police.
"My sister was working in a finance company at Chandbali in Bhadrak. She was in a relationship with a boy. However, the boy tormented my sister, and as a result, she came to Aul and joined another job. My elder sister got a call last night that she is no more. Her roommate called my elder sister and informed that she has locked her room from inside," said the brother of the deceased, Chandan Kumar Jena.
