In a tragic incident, a father and his young daughter were killed in a road accident that occurred near Kothiasahi under Kujanga block on the Cuttack-Paradip road on Thursday.
The incident reportedly took place at around 4 pm when a stone-chip-laden truck ran over a motorcycle carrying the victims.
According to reports, the father and daughter died on the spot. The daughter was a Class V student at a private school in Paradip. The family hailed from Shandhapur village under Kujanga block in Jagatsinghpur district. The accident occurred while they were returning home from school.
Tensions flared at the accident site, prompting swift intervention by the Kujanga Police, who arrived at the spot immediately. Efforts were on to pacify the people and bring the situation under control.
As per sources, a 'rakhi' is found at the spot, prompting speculation that the girl might have bought it for his brother from the market for the upcoming 'Rakhi Purnima' festival.
As per reports, several frequent accidents are occurring along the Cuttack-Paradip road on a regular basis, and the local residents have urged the administration to take necessary steps to avert frequent accidents in the area.
