Getting too hot too soon! Temperatures in Odisha cross 35 degrees

Temperatures in Odisha have crossed 35°C for the first time this year, with Paralakhemundi recording the highest at 35.6°C. Jharsuguda and Bolangir followed closely as dry weather prevails across the state. Night temperature not to undergo major change during the next four to five days.

Due to dry weather prevailing over the districts of Odisha and with no significant synoptic system lying in the region, at least three places in the State witnessed the maximum (day) temperatures at 35 Degrees Celsius or above, on Saturday.

Paralakhemundi town recorded the highest maximum temperature at 35.6 Degrees Celsius. It was followed by Jharsuguda (35.2), and Bolangir (35.0), as per the IMD.

For the first time this year, day temperatures in the State have exceeded 35 Degrees Celsius, marking an unusual weather event.

Recent meteorological observations reveal a considerable spike in the temperature, drawing attention due to its rarity at this time of the year. Residents have grappled with higher heat levels as the mercury soars beyond the 35-Degree mark.

Other places that recorded the maximum temperatures at 34.0 Degrees Celsius or above are Sambalpur and Hirakud (34.7), and Bhawanipatna (34.0).

Shallow to moderate fog is very likely to occur during early morning hours at a few places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Angul, Keonjhar, Khurda, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, and Kandhamal and at one or two places over the districts of Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, and Subarnapur.

Yellow Warning (Be aware)- Dense fog is very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Angul, Keonjhar, Khurda, Cuttack, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, and Kandhamal.
