His condition is stated to be critical but stable.

Jyotiprakash had sustained serious burns on his hands, face, and lungs while trying to extinguish the flames. The Head of Plastic Surgery Department, Dr. Bibhuti Nayak, confirmed, while Jyotiprakash’s lungs have been affected by the fire, doctors are hopeful he will recover within a week, depending on further treatment needs. If necessary, skin grafting procedures may be carried out to aid healing.

Responding to the mishap, Odisha Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling spoke to Jyotiprakash’s mother through a mobile phone to enquire about his condition. The Minister has assured her that the government would ensure specialised care and directed the burn unit’s medical team to provide dedicated attention.

The brave act of Jyotiprakash has garnered wide appreciation, and the public is now looking to the government to extend all possible aid for his recovery and rehabilitation.

“He (Jyotiprakash) sustained burn injuries on his hands, face, and neck. The injuries were severe, and he has been kept on oxygen support. His condition is a little better than before. He is not able to speak properly due to blisters on his lips,” Sanatan Biswal expressed.
