Flag march after political tension in Jajpur, 40 platoons police force deployed
Anticipating the law and order situation, prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) have been enforced in Jajpur police station area and Biraja Haat area after tension gripped the district following the recent attack on Dharmasala MLA Himanshu Sahoo coupled with disputes at Biraja Haat and the arrest of Bhaba Prakash Das, the brother of Biju Janata Dal (BJD) leader Pranab Prakash Das.
Given the escalating tensions, the district and police administrations conducted a flag march in Jajpur city. High-ranking officials, including Eastern Range DIG Satyajit Naik and Jajpur District Collector P Anvesha Reddy, along with Superintendent of Police (SP) Yashpratap Shrimal, have appealed for peace and vigilance among the citizens.

BNSS 163 has been enforced within Jajpur and the Biraja Haat area to ensure peace, aiming to maintain public order. Furthermore, 40 platoons of police have been strategically deployed across the city to deter further disturbances.
Authorities continue to closely watch the situation, underscoring the importance of community cooperation to restore normalcy in the area.
“We will call for a meeting with the farmers' representatives of Biraja Haat. We must reach an amicable solution so that everything goes smoothly without affecting the Biraja Project,” District Collector Anvesha Reddy told media persons.
Likewise, DIG Satyajit Naik said, “We just conducted a flag march and have enforced BNSS 163 in Biraja Haat and Jajpur police station area. At least 19 have been arrested and forwarded to court. Efforts are on to ensure calm and peace in the district.”
