Family dispute turns fatal: Woman succumbs to injuries after axe attack by husband in Boudh

In Boudh district, a domestic dispute turned fatal as Sarjan Pradhan allegedly killed his wife, Kuni Pradhan, with an axe. The incident occurred behind Purunakatak police station, leading to her death during transfer to hospital.

A tragic incident unfolded in a slum area behind Purunakatak police station in Boudh district, where a domestic dispute led to the death of a woman on Saturday.

The accused has been identified as Sarjan Pradhan.

As per reports, Sarjan allegedly attacked his wife, Kuni Pradhan, with an axe following a heated argument late last night.

According to sources, after the violent altercation, the husband locked the house from the outside and surrendered himself at the local police station. 

Acting swiftly, Purunakatak police broke the lock and rescued the critically injured woman from the scene. She was immediately rushed to Purunakatak Hospital.

However, due to the severity of her injuries, Kuni was being transferred to Boudh District Headquarters Hospital when she succumbed to her injuries on the way.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident, and the accused remains in custody.

Earlier last week, a man had allegedly murdered his wife and dumped her body under a bridge, packed inside a sack, at Joda village under Gurundia block in Sundargarh.

Following the crime, the husband surrendered at the local police station.

Initial investigations suggest that an extramarital affair may have been the motive behind the murder. According to police sources, the accused confessed to the killing.
