Excise constable injured in attack by liquor mafias in Ganjam
An excise constable has been severely injured in a brutal attack by some liquor mafias during a raid on illicit liquor in Ganjam district on Monday.
While a person has been arrested, Berhampur Town Police has registered a case against five persons in this connection.
The injured constable has been identified as Sabyasachi Mishra.
As per reports, some miscreants were selling illicit liquor in a lane near the Telephone Bhawan Square in Berhampur. When Mishra was shooting its video with his mobile phone, as many as five to six liquor mafias chased and attacked him. Mishra has suffered severe injuries on his eyes in the process.
Following the incident, other excise officials reached the spot immediately and seized the illicit liquor shop. Subsequently, they lodged a complaint in Berhampur Town Police in this connection.

As per sources, the liquor mafias dared to attack the Excise constable as he was not in his uniform.
“Based on the complaint of the excise constable, we have registered a case and started an investigation into the incident. Necessary actions will be taken after the completion of the investigation,” said a police official of Berhampur Town Police Station.
