The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) filed a police complaint on Tuesday against an attempt of illegal encroachment and plotting of land belonging to Lord Jagannath near the Shree Gundicha Temple in Puri.
Sources reported that the Chief Administrator of the Puri Jagannath Temple, Arabinda Kumar Padhee, directed the Development Administrator and the Tehsildar to conduct a preliminary investigation into reported encroachment on plot numbers 827, 824, 821, 823, 825, 821/1816 under khata number 791 of Talabania Mouza.
The SJTA subsequently lodged a complaint at the Kumbharpada police station for legal action. Additionally, the Chief Administrator discussed the issue with the Superintendent of Police (SP) of Puri.
Further, Padhee has firmly stated that any attempt to illegally seize land belonging to Lord Jagannath will not be tolerated, and strict action will be taken against the offenders.
Previously, a similar illegal land-grabbing attempt was reported in the Matitota area, where a complaint was filed at Baselisahi police station. In that matter, swift police action led to the arrest of the accused and immediate legal action.
The SJTA also issued a public warning that any illegal transfer of Lord Jagannath’s land is completely unlawful and that those involved in such transactions will not only be victims of fraud but will also face legal consequences.
