An elderly man’s body was found inside the cattle shed at Chandipur village under Bhograi block in Balasore district on Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as Niranjan Kar.
Upon being informed, Bhograi Police reached the spot and recovered the body.
As per reports, net cash worth Rs 23,000 was found near the body. Police reportedly seized the cash and sent the body for post-mortem.
An investigation into the incident has been launched.

Meanwhile, some local residents have alleged that, the elderly man might have committed suicide due to the torture by his son and daughter-in-law.
Earlier in October, police officials of Khaprakhol Police Station in Bolangir district had shouldered the responsibility of conducting the last rites of a 65-year-old elderly man whose body was completely decomposed.
The decomposed body of the elderly man was found in a river near the village. As the body was completely decomposed, relatives and fellow villagers refused to carry the body and join in the final rites. Later, the police officials joined the elderly man’s son and took the body to a forest near the village and performed the last rites.
As per sources, the elderly man had left his house on October 21 and has been missing since then.
