A differently-abled youth was allegedly thrashed by some miscreants inside his shop over past enmity at Barakolia Bazaar under Nemala police limits in Cuttack on Saturday.
The victim youth was identified as Prakash Kumar Biswal from Orati village of the district.
According to a source, all of a sudden, about five persons barged into Prakash’s shop and indulged in an altercation with the youth. The enraged men later beat him up leaving him severely injured. The entire incident was captured in a CCTV installed nearby.

“I was alone at my shop when six people came near me and started scolding me. They forced me to shut down the retail outlet. I am not sure if the incident is a fallout of any past enmity,” said Prakash, who was recently discharged from SCB Medical College and Hospital.
While speaking to media persons, a local Gobinda Das said, “On the immersion procession day, he (the victim) had scolded us. He and his acquaintances also roughed up one of my cousins in front of his shop. Things did not stop there and he went on hurling filthy languages. Yesterday when he scolded us again, we had a scuffle. Both sides attacked each other."
Acting on the separate complaints lodged by both the victim and the accused persons, Nemala police has launched a probe.
