Deprived of electricity, Odisha villagers return ration cards
As a mark of protest, the residents of Nagalwada area under Narayanpatna block in Koraput district returned their ration cards to the Collector on Tuesday expressing their agony over no electricity connection to their village.
As per reports, during a public hearing programme of Koraput Collector Keerthi Vasan, the villagers informed about their problems regarding the electricity connection in their area. Moreover, in a novel protest, the villagers returned their ration cards to the Collector.
According to the villagers, they don’t need the ration cards as they don’t have electricity in their village.
In response, the Collector assured that the problem of the villagers will be solved soon.
“We have received various grievances regarding road infrastructure, drains and other problems from around 100 people. We have directed the officials of the concerned departments regarding the issues. These problems will be solved at the earliest,” said Koraput collector Keerthi Vasan.
