The Cyber police station on Thursday registered a case and started an investigation into a complaint filed by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Odisha alleging that the Biju Janata Dal (BJD)’s IT cell was behind the objectionable post on Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Facebook.
As per reports, the Cyber Police has sent digital documents about the BJP’s complaint to Meta and started looking into the postings. Police said, that after reports are available from Meta, action will be taken against the accused.

IIC of Cyber Police Station, Rashmita Jena said, “A delegation of the BJP filed a complaint and we have registered a case. Digital documents have been sent to the Meta platform. After the Meta platform report, a follow-up action will be taken.”
Notably, a delegation of the frontline Odisha BJP leaders filed a complaint at the Cyber Police Station in this regard on Wednesday, demanding stern action against the BJD workers/leaders alleging their involvement in such unsavoury activities.
Senior BJP leader Pitambar Acharya said, “In a social media handle run by the BJD, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been abused with expletives. We feel scared of uttering such unutterable and filthy words used against the PM of the country. The Facebook group is directly controlled by the BJD IT cell.”
The BJP leaders had warned of legal recourse on the issue if no action is taken immediately.
