In view of the incessant rainfall and severe waterlogging triggered by the depression over the Bay of Bengal, the Cuttack district administration has cancelled leave for all government offices in the district on Saturday.

According to an official release by the District Information and Public Relations Office (DIPRO), all government offices in Cuttack will remain open today. All officers and staff have been instructed to report to their respective headquarters without fail.

The District Collector has clearly directed that any violation of the attendance order will invite disciplinary action as per the rules.

The low pressure over the Bay of Bengal, which intensified into a depression yesterday, has led to continuous rainfall across several parts of Odisha, including Cuttack. There are reports of waterlogging in other parts of the state as well.

The administration aims to ensure uninterrupted functioning of essential services and a timely response to any emergencies arising from the adverse weather conditions.

Meanwhile, the Cuttack Municipal Corporation (CMC) officials have started the testing of motor pumps in view of the rainfall forecast, which may further lead to waterlogging conditions.

Notably, the IMD has predicted that the system is expected to bring heavy to very heavy rainfall in several parts of the state.

Several districts, including Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Bargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Sundargarh, Balasore, Bhadrak, and Jajpur are expected to witness heavy rainfall under the influence of the system.
