The Odisha government has formed a four-member committee to investigate allegations against Sandeep Sejwal, chief coach at the Bhubaneswar sports hostel’s high-performance swimming centre. Hostel inmates earlier brought several allegations against him.

A four-member committee was established on Sunday to probe allegations against the coach at the high-performance swimming centre of the sports hostel in Bhubaneswar.

This action has been taken following a directive from the Department of Sports and Youth Services. The committee is tasked with thoroughly probing the complaints put forward by the hostel inmates and delivering a detailed report on its findings.

The members of the committee are: Ashok Kumar Panda, Amit Kumar Nayak, Sonali Chand and Rupanwita Panda.

Tasks before the probe committee

According to official sources, the directive for this inquiry was issued by the Director of the Department, in adherence to prior instructions from the State government. Amid the ongoing investigation, Sandeep Sejwal, the chief coach of the high-performance swimming centre, has been placed under suspension.

Several swimmers, who are part of the training at the Kalinga Stadium high-performance centre, have accused coach Sejwal of using abusive language and making threats concerning expulsion from the hostel for raising grievances with higher authorities.

On Friday, the hostel inmates had communicated in a letter to the authorities concerned by skipping their practice sessions.

Comments from the accused coach in this regard could not be obtained.
