Extensive Patrolling & Preserving Marine Life

In a determined effort over the past the past 138 days, 29 Coast Guard vessels and Dornier aircraft have been actively involved. They are actively patrolling for approximately 65 hours through aerial surveillance. They are also examining fishing boats. In an operation of this magnitude, ensuring the safety and protection of these endangered species is imperative.

Enforcing Compliance & Installation of TED

The installation of 'Turtle Excluder Devices' (TED) in netting has been a focus. The Turtle Excluder Devices (TEDs) are to be mandatorily installed on fishing boats to prevent turtle deaths. With this, several Olive Ridley turtles are being successfully rescued from entanglement in drift nets.
