A Railway Protection Force (RPF) constable in Bolangir district has saved the life of a person who tried to commit suicide on a railway track in the wee hours of Friday.
According to sources, one Bisikesana Nayak hailing from Bishnumunda village was seen walking on the tracks towards a goods train after alighting at the platform of Bolangir railway station.
Seeing Bisikesan walking towards the train through CCTV, an alert RPF constable identified as Sambit Kumar Sahu ran onto the tracks and dragged him away from in front of the moving train, thereby saving him from the clutch of death.
Later, Sambit informed Bisikesan’s family and handed him over to them.
Meanwhile, RPF constable Sambit has been appreciated for showcasing heroic action to save Bisikesan’s life. The video of his heroic act has gone viral on social media.
It is learnt that Bisikesan has embraced sainthood and is living separately from his family. However, it is yet to be ascertained as to why he wanted to take the drastic step.
Recently, an alert RPF constable had earned kudos for saving the life of a man who slipped while boarding a moving train at Purnea Railway Station under Katihar Division of NFR in Bihar.
It was a miraculous escape for the elderly commuter as he was about to slip into the gap between the train and the platform and get crushed by the train before he was pulled away by the RPF staff.
The RPF constable identified as Sanjiv Kumar Singh used his presence of mind and saved the elderly man. The video was shared by Northeast Frontier Railway.
