A daylight robbery involving miscreants fleeing away after snatching a bag of gold was reported from the Rayagada district of Odisha this morning.
The sequence of the entire events was captured on CCTV. It showed two miscreants apprehending a jeweller and snatching away his bag which reportedly contained gold ornaments before fleeing away on a motorcycle.
The incident took place near Ambadola police station of Rayagada at about 8 am on Monday. The victim subsequently lodged a complaint with police and claimed that the bag contained over half a kilogram of gold ornaments.

As per the victim’s statements, he was opening his shop when two bike-borne miscreants approached him. One of them rushed and snatched his bag away while the other kept the engine on. The duo fled the spot after committing the crime.
Police have initiated an investigation into the matter and are analyzing the CCTV footage to nab the culprits. However, as of yet, they have not offered any comments on this matter.
A similar incident was reported in November when masked robbers stole over Rs 25 lakh worth of gold and silver ornaments from a jeweler in Keonjhar district.
The robbery had happened around 9 pm when Hiranmayee Sahoo, the shop owner, was heading home with his son, carrying bags of gold jewelry. About 100 meters from the store, six masked men stopped them, stole the bags, and assaulted them at gunpoint.

As such, this incident in Rayagada has highlighted a spurt in theft, loot, and armed robbery cases in Odisha of late.
