Burglars break into the house of a businessman in Rayagada town and loot valuables such as gold, silver, and cash in the wee hours of Friday. The victim has been identified as Subrat Pati, residing in the New Lane area. 

Intruders Enter During Early Hours

The incident took place in the early hours of Friday morning. While the family members were asleep, the robbers reportedly broke the grill of the back door and entered the house. They targeted a locked room, which is different from the one the family slept in, and stole the valuables kept inside.

Items Stolen

According to allegations, the robbers looted more than 200 grams of gold, over 2 kilograms of silver, and Rs 10 lakh in cash from the businessman’s residence.

Police Launch Investigation with Scientific Aid

Following a complaint at the Town police station, officials initiated a search operation. They were assisted by a forensic team and sniffer dogs in their efforts to track down the criminals and recover the stolen items.

Relative Details Incident

Santosh Patra, a relative of the victim, explains, “The room where the family was sleeping is different from the one that was looted. That room was locked and empty at the time. The gold, silver, and cash were kept there. We were informed about the incident earlier today, and immediately filed a case with the police.”

Similar Instance

In a similar incident reported today, robbers broke into the house of Markand Ojha near Bancho Chhak under Anandapur police limits. The break-in occurred late at night while the family was asleep. The thieves cut through the window grill and looted over 50 grams of gold ornaments worth more than Rs 5 lakh, along with Rs 5,000 in cash.
