In a shocking incident, a minor boy allegedly killed his younger brother at Hatapada village under Titlagarh block in Bolangir.
While the accused is 17-year-old, the deceased was 12-year-old.
According to reports, a minor boy had been missing for the past five to six months. The boy’s mother had lodged a missing complaint with the police. Later, she grew suspicious of her elder son and informed the police.
Subsequently, the accused elder brother surrendered at Titilagarh police station during the investigation process and confessed to the crime. He initially buried the body behind their house but later shifted it to a spot about 300-400 meters away.

Acting on his confession, the SP brought the accused to the scene, and the buried remains were exhumed in presence of the Magistrate and Medical Officer.
The exact motive for the murder remains unclear, and police are continuing their investigation.
It is also suspected that, some others might have influenced the elder brother to murder his minor sibling and they might have been associated with him in the crime. It is also suspected that the minor boy might have been killed over sorcery as such superstitions are still prevalent in the area.
