The dead body of a missing 9-year-old boy was found stuffed in a sack under mysterious circumstances in Gopinathpur village under Champua police station limits in Keonjhar district early Tuesday morning.
Sources reported that the minor had been missing since yesterday after venturing out to play at about 5 pm. However, his family had not lodged a police complaint suspecting he may have visited his nearby relatives but grew worried when he was nowhere to be found by this morning.
A local villager named Gouranga Patra found an unidentified sack lying outside his house premises. He subsequently informed local police who arrived at the spot and opened the sack only to discover the boy’s dead body.

Champua IIC and SDPO reached the site and cordoned the area while a scientific team also arrived soon after.
Meanwhile, the parents of the deceased minor alleged murder but so far the exact circumstances and motive of the crime have not been ascertained. Previous enmity of the family and witchcraft angles are being looked upon by the police.

Till the last reports, the body was yet to be taken out of the sack but will be retrieved soon and handed over to the forensic team for a detailed investigation. Police, however, have not offered any additional comments so far.
