The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Tuesday took a dig at the state government and the ruling Biju Janata Dal (BJD) following the seizure of massive cash by IT officials from the possession of liquor traders in Odisha.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of a rally in Satyabadi block of Puri, BJP's national spokesperson, Sambit Patra lashed out at the BJD alleging that large-scale corruption has been going on in all parts of Odisha.
“After BJP’s thumping electoral victories in Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Rajasthan, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given a clear message to the nation. He has said that corruption and maladministration will not be allowed,” Patra observed.
Pointing out that all have witnessed how the IT officials seized heaps of currency notes from the breweries of Jharkhand Congress MP Dhiraj Sahu in Bolangir and Sambalpur, the BJP leader said that the money seized from Odisha is not a trivial matter. “Since Independence, there are no historical records about the seizure of Rs 400/500 crore from any MP in the country,” he added.

The BJP organized a massive rally and staged a demonstration outside the Satyabadi block in Puri district over the issues of ‘large-scale corruption, injustice, and anti-democratic activities.’
Hundreds of BJP workers drawn from Satyabadi and Kanasa blocks converged at Panchasakha ground in the morning and took out a rally to the block office. They held a meeting which was attended by Patra, senior party leader Sameer Mohanty, and Lekhashree Samatnsinghar.
