In response to the Congress party's call for a no-confidence motion against the BJP-run government in Odisha, BJD legislator Arun Sahoo has made a strong statement.

Taking an indirect dig at the BJP, Sahoo alleged that the government is even hesitant to convene the Assembly session. He claimed that the government has been pushed to the back foot, particularly on the issue of violence against women.

Sahoo emphasized that the BJD is ready to discuss all matters, including trust, no-confidence, governance, and the overall situation. However, he did not clarify whether the BJD would itself bring a no-confidence motion or extend support to the Congress’ initiative.

"The BJP is challenging to bring a no-confidence motion. I want to tell them that they should convene the Assembly session first. There will be a face-off at the Assembly. The Assembly session should have been convened on August 1. However, it has been learnt that they (BJP) are mulling to convene the Assembly session from September first week or the second week. The negative public opinion against the government across Odisha is the real no-confidence motion. BJD is ready to discuss all matters, including trust, no-confidence, governance, and the overall situation," said Arun Sahoo.

On the other hand, upon returning from Delhi today, BJP state president Manmohan Samal gave a sharp response to the opposition's no-confidence move. He stated that the opposition has every right to bring such a motion, and assured that the BJP is fully prepared to face the situation if it comes to the Assembly.

"The Opposition party has every right to bring a no-confidence motion. Congress can bring the motion, and BJD can support it. We are fully ready to face the no-confidence motion," said Samal.
