In a developing political scenario in Odisha, the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) has demanded the resignation of Nityananda Gond, who is the Minister of School and Mass Education, ST & SC Development, Minorities and Backward Classes Welfare, Government of Odisha amidst Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) summon to senior IAS Bishnupada Sethi.
The district unit of BJD in Nabarangpur held a press conference and demanded an extensive investigation by the CBI into Gond’s involvement in the alleged bribery.
“If a senior official like IAS Bishnupada Sethi is being summoned by CBI, then why doesn’t the central agency summon Nityananda Gond, who is the Minister of School and Mass Education, ST & SC Development, Minorities and Backward Classes Welfare, Government of Odisha. He is equally responsible for the alleged fraud,” alleged Nabarangpur District BJD President Ramesh Majhi.

“If an IAS officer is accused of bribe, then there is no doubt about the involvement of the minister. So, both of them should be treated equally and interrogated by the CBI. So, why is the CBI only targeting the IAS officer? They should also summon the Minister Nityananda Gond who should responsibly resign from his position,” Majhi added.
Meanwhile, Nabarangpur District BJP President Jagdish Bisoi termed BJD’s allegations are baseless.
“They are just biting the bullet. The fraud was committed during BJD’s regime, so IAS Bishnupada Sethi has been summoned. So, why should our minister Nityananda resign? They have swindled hundreds of thousands of crores and now they are upset as the CBI is after them,” Bisoi stated.
