World-Class Facilities to Boost Tourism

As per the current plans, the convention centre will feature:

  • A 4,000-seat plenary hall.
  • A 1,200-seat meeting hall and a 500-seat secondary hall.
  • Four conference rooms (100 seats each).
  • A 50,000 sq ft indoor exhibition space.
  • An outdoor exhibition area for 30,000 attendees.

Additional amenities include climate control, ample parking, security infrastructure, and landscaped zones.

PPP Model to Drive Funding

OBCC will take the project fully funded by private partners. The PPP approach aims to ensure cutting-edge design and operational efficiency. The move for a state-of-the-art convention centre comes after Bhubaneswar’s recent success in hosting major events like the G20 meetings and Pravasi Bharatiya Divas.

Related Urban Development: Ghatikia Market Complex

In a parallel infrastructure push, the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) plans a modern three-storey community market and residential complex in Ghatikia, near the Khandagiri-Khordha stretch.

Inspired by Telangana’s Ghatikia market, the 2.79-acre project will feature 220 shops, segregated zones for vegetarian and non-vegetarian goods, and basement parking occupying 60% of the built-up area.

Meanwhile, the convention centre is expected to act as an economic catalyst by elevating the state capital’s profile, attracting global events while also generating local employment.
