Tensions flared high at Bhadrak Autonomous College on Monday after clashes erupted between two student groups over the installation of banners at the college gate.

The dispute began during Ganesh Puja celebrations when one group put up a banner near the college entrance with the words ‘KILLER GROUP’ written on it. This triggered protests, and the banner was subsequently removed.

Later, another group put up a new banner reading ‘Bhadrak Autonomous College’. However, since the banner featured a saffron colour background, the rival group objected strongly, sparking a fresh confrontation.

The situation quickly escalated into heated arguments and unrest among the students.

Following the tension, police forces from the Bhadrak Town police station were deployed at the spot to prevent further escalation and maintain law and order.

“A few days back, Ganesh Puja was celebrated with great fervour in Bhadrak Autonomous College. A few private clubs are also celebrating Ganesh Puja inside the college campus. However, they are behaving as if the college property belongs to them,” alleged a student.

No comments were received from the college authorities in this regard.
