In a concerning development, the roof of the newly constructed Bargarh Road Railway Station has started leaking heavily, just months after its completion.

Amid the ongoing monsoon rains, passengers were seen drenched and struggling for shelter as rainwater seeped through the roof, exposing flaws in the station’s construction quality.

A video shared by Ashwini Kumar Sarangi, MLA, Bargarh Assembly Constituency, on X (formerly Twitter) shows commuters helplessly standing under a leaking roof, unable to find dry space within the premises. The video has raised serious questions about the accountability of the construction agencies involved.

Tagging Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw and the Ministry of Railways, the MLA urged immediate intervention, stating: “The roof of the newly constructed Bargarh Railway Station is leaking severely, just months after completion. Passengers are standing drenched, struggling amid heavy rain due to water seepage. Please intervene for urgent repairs.”

The incident has not only caused inconvenience to travelers but also raised safety and durability concerns over infrastructure projects in the region.

Locals and passengers have demanded an urgent inspection and repair, alongside an investigation into the apparent lapses in construction quality.

Commenting on the matter, a railway official said "At the time of the rainfall, repair work on the gutter system of the existing shed (old) was underway. The sudden downpour briefly hampered the ongoing work and led to the temporary leakage of water at platforms. However, work resumed following the rains and is planned to be completed today."
