As a sea of devotees thronged Puri for the Bahuda or the return yatra of Lord Jagannath and His sibling deities from Gundicha temple to Srimandir, the Odisha Police on Saturday informed that all preparations are in proper place to ensure smooth conduct of the festival.
Odisha DGP Y B Khurania, along with other senior police officials, is keeping a close watch on all the arrangements. The top Odisha Police official informed that there is excitement among devotees for the Bahuda Yatra .
“205 platoons of police force have been deployed. With the Lord’s blessing, the Yatra will be concluded smoothly,” said DGP.
Puri SP Pinak Mishra informed that the rituals like Mangala alati have already been completed. Soon, the Pahandi rituals and others will be conducted. Later, the process will begin for the pulling of chariots from the Gundicha temple.

Mishra further informed that all the security arrangements have been tightened. Special arrangements have been undertaken keeping in view rain and other adverse weather conditions. Our focus is on crowd management and other surveillance activities.
As per official sources, Odisha Police has come up with an independent drone surveillance system to ensure smooth traffic and crowd management during the Bahuda Yatra in Puri.
The system is being monitored and operated from the central traffic control room, where various police personnel are stationed to observe live visuals and coordinate with field officers.
