Odisha Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling on Wednesday informed that the Ayushman Bharat Yojana will be rolled out in Odisha in February 2025. A flagship scheme of the Central Government, Ayushman Bharat aims to provide accessible healthcare coverage to more than 3.5 crore people in the state.
Interacting with OTV, the minister said that the proposal for implementing Ayushman Bharat in Odisha has been submitted and will be approved in the Union Cabinet soon, following which a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be signed.
Additionally, he also confirmed that the scheme will be operational after card distribution post-MoU signing.
“On January 13, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be signed between the Central and State Governments. Following the MoU, the printing and distribution of beneficiary cards will begin, enabling the scheme to be launched by February,” said the Health Minister.
Earlier, Mukesh Mahaling had expressed hopes for his plans to implement Ayushman Bharat along with the Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana, a regional program designed to enhance healthcare accessibility.
“Together, the two schemes will go a long way in improving health conditions in Odisha,” the minister had stated in his address to media persons in December.
