In a fresh development in Archana Nag's money laundering case, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Friday conducted a raid at her residence in Bhubaneswar and sealed the property. However, the action was vehemently opposed by Archana’s father and sister.

“I told them (the ED) that I will vacate the house after my family members, meaning owners of the house, arrive. They (the family members) are still not available at home. I am a small child, and no one else from our family is present here. Where would we go?” Achana’s younger sister said to mediapersons.
“They (the raid team) did not listen to our appeal at all. Rather, they pulled me by holding my hand and forcibly ousted me from the house,” the young girl said.
The ED raid was linked to Archana’s failure to comply with an earlier eviction notice issued by the agency. The move is part of an ongoing probe into financial irregularities and illegal asset accumulation.
“Previously, the ED officials had demanded a bribe of Rs 50 lakh from my daughter, saying, if she paid them the demanded amount, the (money laundering) case would be quashed. Forcibly, they removed us from the house,” Archana’s father, Surendra Nag, alleged.
“We requested them (the ED team) and asked them for a day’s time to suitably vacate the premises after searching for an alternative house accommodation. The case is still sub-judice in the High Court. But they did not listen to anything,” the elderly man said.
However, the situation turned tense when Archana Nag’s father and sister objected to the sealing in her absence, questioning why such action was being taken when no one was at home. Sources say ED had been given a specific time slot, and the protest was over the notice timing and manner of execution.
“Despite the case still pending, they were forcibly evicted. We had even informed them (the ED) yesterday that an appeal to allow more time has already been filed. In such a situation, we have nothing to say, but will likely get an order in our favour in this regard from New Delhi,” Archana’s counsel, Adisha Mohanty, expressed.
No official response was received from the ED in this regard.
