In a disturbing incident that has sparked widespread outrage, a cow was allegedly attacked with acid in Gandhi Nagar's Maruti Vihar area of Berhampur after it entered a private residence.

According to reports, the cow, owned by M. Ram Krishna, was among seven to eight cattle grazing in the locality when one of them inadvertently wandered into a resident’s property. Angered by this, the house owner allegedly threw acid on the animal.

The injured cow has sustained severe burns and is reported to be in critical condition. Veterinary care has been initiated, but sources indicate the animal’s health continues to deteriorate.

The brutal act has drawn condemnation from all quarters. Animal rights activists and local residents have called for immediate legal action against the accused.

"Such inhumane behavior is unacceptable. Strict punishment must be ensured," said a local animal welfare volunteer.

Meanwhile, police have been informed, and a complaint has been lodged at the Town Police Station. Authorities have assured that an investigation is underway, and appropriate action will be taken based on evidence.
