The case pertaining to vandalism at Ambabhona Police Station in Bargarh district reached the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) with a complaint being filed by a Right to Information (RTI) activist on Wednesday.
The complaint was filed by RTI activist, Subrat Das who alleged that Biju Janata Dal (BJD) MLA from Bhatli, Sushant Singh was involved in the vandalism and ransacking of the police station. He alleged that the police are not registering any FIRs against him.
Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has also intensified its demand for arrest of Sushant Singh and other miscreants involved in the police station vandalism by staging a protest at Bargarh SP office.
As per reports, hundreds of BJP members set out in a rally from Nishamani field in Bargarh and marched towards the SP office to stage protest led by Irasish Acharya. They alleged the police are not arresting any of the miscreants because they all are BJD goons and linked to Sushant Singh.

While, no comments from the police could be received on BJP’s allegations, MLA Singh had issued a statement on Tuesday morning accusing the police of wrongdoing because of which the vandalism happened.
“The BJP is targeting me without any reason. The entire fault is with the police. The irate mob left the place after I requested them to maintain peace. BJP is targeting me by labelling false allegations against me fearing their defeat in the next election.”
The Congress party too came out to protest the police station vandalism demanding arrest of the culprits and staged a demonstration in front of the SP office on Tuesday.

It is pertinent to mention here that a team of police personnel raided a picnic party on Sunday acting on a tipoff about drug smuggling. But they could not get anything to establish the allegations. Thereafter, a heated argument ensued between the youths and the police. The two sides even came closer to a confrontation, sources said.
A few minutes later, those youths allegedly came to the police station and resorted to vandalism- broke tables, chairs and window panes, and later managed to escape.
